The United Arab Emirates is a Western Asian monarchy consisting of seven emirates or states. It is situated on the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf and shares borders with Oman and Saudi Arabia. The UAE is composed of seven emirates: Umm al-Quwain, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, and Ras al-Khaimah.
The United Arab Emirates and the United States enjoy very close strategic ties. The UAE has been described as the United State's best counter-terrorism ally in the Gulf by Richard A.
